TEST OF TIME by Sandra Guzdek (internet)

As the ship passes through a harmless anomaly, Crusher and LaForge are rendered unconscious. They and a lieutenant find themselves in another reality - one where Jack is alive, Beverly is pregnant and has a daughter as well as Wesley. Ro Laren and LaForge are lovers. Klingons are the enemy, Romulans allies. At first this new reality is wonderful, until it changes again and again--each time with different aspects. They have to return to their own reality or they know eventually, they'll be driven insane!

Reviewed by : Janis - Not very much in the way of P/C, but an intriguing, well written story. 7

THEN, NOW, FOREVER AND ETERNITY by Saragh McCrudden (zine: Naked Now 3)

Beverly is having a meal in a restaurant with a group of friends; Picard among them. Someone is watching her intently.

Reviewed by : Janis - This is wonderful - but it really upset me when I first read it, and to this day it still brings a tear to my eye. 9

A THOUSAND MILES by Melissa Zander (internet )

Beverly keeps having erotic dreams about Jean-Luc, and he in turn is having them about her. To work off his frustrations he heads for the gym in the dead of night--- then she arrives.

Reviewed by : Janis - Well written and enjoyable. What happens in the gym is believable, but some of the build-up to it isn't entirely credible. Adults only! 7

THROUGH CLOSED EYES by B.A. Lopez (internet)

This story follows events in 'Generations'. Beverly was among the injured and lies in a deep coma. When the hospital can do nothing more for her, Picard takes her home where he, Marie and a team of nurses care for her needs. She has been unconscious for 24 days, and he has been constantly beside her for all that time. Now, on Christmas eve, he prays for a miracle.

Reviewed by : Janis - Obviously, not a lot happens; this basically deals with Picard's feelings. Wonderfully well written, tender and touching. 8

TREK NOIR by Allison Martens (internet)

Beverly becomes fascinated by film noir and gets Jean-Luc to join her in a holodeck recreation of 'Double Indemnity'. She has seen the film, he hasn't, and Beverly wants to see how closely he will follow the actual plot. Both throw themselves into the act--- and start wishing certain aspects were for real.

Reviewed by : Janis - Great fun! Fabulous idea, which to my mind really works. I loved it! 9

12 DAYS by Terry S. Bowers (zine: accepted for Idylls but not yet published)

While the _Enterprise_ plays host to a succession of diplomats, the crew are unhappy with round after round of functions. Beverly Crusher, though, is very happy, for she has a secret admirer. Flowers, gifts, messages, all appear in her cabin or office day after day. At the same time, she and Jean-Luc grow ever closer as they attend each function together. He's somewhat concerned about this intruder entering her cabin, but she isn't the least concerned--- and is sure she knows who her admirer is. But is she correct - and when, if ever, will he reveal himself.

Reviewed by : Janis - As is apparent, a lot of things again and again, but as it's so well written, and the conversation differs, the story stays fresh. When I read it, I was tired, and had only planned on reading half - however, I kept right on as I wasn't 100% sure who her admirer was, and was eager to know for sure. 7.50

UNUSUAL DREAMS by Saragh McCrudden (zine: Naked Now 4)

Remember after their talk in 'Attached' , Picard and Crusher lay apart near the fire? This story tells what they dreamt of.

Reviewed by : Janis - Interesting - with a bit of a twist, and erotic! 8

WHAT DO YOU GIVE A CAPTAIN WHO HAS EVERYTHING?-aka: P/C xmas by members of Bonc5 (internet)

Set after the destruction of the _Enterprise-D_, this tale sees Jean-Luc invite Beverly to dinner, planning to seduce her. Little does he know but she's thinking much the same. Their evening is interrupted when she's ordered on a medical mission. While on the ship taking her to her job, an incident occurs that has long term repercussions for their relationship. While in LaBarre for Christmas with Jean-Luc, Beverly determines to get things right between them again; not an easy task.

Reviewed by : Janis - Characterization is at times not too believable, some aspects are very unlikely, and not all of it works, yet despite this, I have to say I enjoyed this story. The last part when things between them are finally resolved is wonderfully well written--and though it has nothing to do with the story, this has an unusual disclaimer that made me smile. 7

WHEN THE ANGELS FALL by Monica L. Anthony (internet)

Temporarily stationed at Starfleet HQ until the _Enterprise-E_ is completed, Beverly sees less and less of Jean-Luc when he again meets Nella Daren. Then some shock news reaches her; he and Nella are to be married!

Reviewed by : Janis - I really enjoyed this, although I found parts of it to be somewhat upsetting. It's so well written that I'll make allowances for the ending. And in truth, I was glad it ended the way it did, though I suspect some readers will probably feel differently. 9
