JOURNEY'S BEGINNING by M. Chelsea Mack (internet)

After saying good-bye to her son as he leaves to go with the traveler, Beverly is in need of comfort. Jean-Luc is happy to provide a friendly shoulder--- but might his soothing embrace lead them along another path?

Reviewed by : Janis - A truly believable, very sweet and tender conclusion to 'Journey's End'. Adults only! 8

LEGACY OF A DOPPLEGANGER by Marilyn Wilkerson (zine: NCC-1701-D Warp 5)

Picard asks Crusher exactly what did occur between her and his double. Then they have dinner.

Reviewed by : Janis - Nothing special, but an okay read that doesn't really go anywhere and just suddenly ends. That said, there are some good lines. 6

A LITTLE STORY OF PURE SMUT by M. Chelsea Mack (internet

Not exactly a story. It's a P/C scenario (in bed, getting intimate) and at intervals the author throws in amusing comments.

Reviewed by : Janis - A clever idea; it made me laugh. The author's excuse for doing this was writers block. Quite ingenious, really. 7.50

MARK OF THE BORG by AOL P/C Boards (internet)

Beverly is captured by the Borg and turned into Rihana. The Borg say if Locutus returns to them, she will be freed. Picard goes willingly. And the rest of the crew have a fight on their hands to get their two shipmates and friends back.

Reviewed by : Janis - Well written and the parts where a partly assimilated Picard and Crusher communicate, each trying to help the other fight what is happening, is especially good. I personally feel the story would have benefited by being longer and more in-depth, but it's good as is and something a little different. 7

MASKS by Sandra Guzdek (internet)

Picard falls for a mysterious woman at a masked ball. At the same time, he has recently received an artifact that affects him profoundly.

Reviewed by : Janis - Definitely something different. Well written and moving in parts--- however I personally didn't altogether enjoy it. But despite that, I'd have to say it probably merits 8

MAZES IN THE GREEN by Amy Raduege (internet)

Jean-Luc, jealous that Beverly has spent all night dancing with an ambassador, leaves the party. She follows and asks him to take her to a hidden valley. there is a reason it's hidden; the flowers there supposedly have aphrodisiac properties. She doesn't know this. he does, but doesn't mention it until they arrive.

Reviewed by : Janis - Not much of a plot, but very nicely written. I don't usually like lengthy descriptions of places; however, these really are excellent and added to the story. 7

A MIND OF HER OWN by M.A. Boyd (internet)

Beverly flies off in a shuttle to lecture at a symposium. She never arrives. An old adversary of the captain has kidnapped her--- and when Beverly arrives back on the ship, she has a deadly mission to carry out.

Reviewed by : Janis - Very well written with some wonderful scenes. There's mystery, romance and some touching moments. 8

THE MISSING SCENE FROM SUB ROSA by Terry S. Bowers (zine: accepted for Naked Now but not yet published)

Picard comes to the graveyard to comfort Beverly who has just destroyed Ronan with a phaser.

Reviewed by : Janis - Despite being only a very short story, this manages to be rather moving. Short, but very sweet. 8

MISSING SUSPICIONS by M.J. Ford (zine: Beyond Farpoint 4)

'Suspicions': takes place as Crusher arrives back on the ship following her journey into the corona. She's prepared for Picard's anger, but the only emotion he expresses is concern. Only later do they discuss recent events--- and their feelings.

Reviewed by : Janis - We never did get to see what happened when Crusher returned to the ship; all we got was her thanking Guinan. This, or something like it, is what we should have seen. Nicely written, though I would have liked a touch more confrontation before all was resolved between them. 7

MISS JULIA by Sandra Guzdek (internet)

After both appearing in a performance of Strindberg's play, Beverly and Jean-Luc celebrate in Ten Forward and are joined by Will and Deanna. Their conversation about the seduction scenes make the captain uneasy.

Reviewed by : Janis - Hmmm - this one wasn't easy to review. An unusual approach to the well worn theme of how they really feel about each other. Picard's final scene is typical of the man! 7.5

MOONSET by Samba (internet)

While visiting a planet, Jean-Luc changes into a wolf. This occurrence happens twice a year there. Beverly is locked in a room with him and the beast attacks her - but then heals her wound - and they find a strong, sexual attraction is developing between them.

Reviewed by : Janis - Okay, I admit the idea of this did not appeal to me in the least, but it's so well written and is actually quite a sweet story, and a damn sight more erotic that some of the P/C sex stories around. There's also some intentional humour. Very unusual and very, very good. Adults only! 8

MORE THAN MEETS THE EYE by Sandra Guzdek (internet)

I can't say much about this without giving away the surprise. It isn't really P/C, either. Beverly is attracted to a Ambassador but--- well, the title says it all, really!

Reviewed by : Janis - Different, intriguing, dramatic, and keeps up the suspense to the very end. 8.50

A MOST UNUSUAL BIRTHDAY by Janis Sherringham (zine: accepted by Naked Now but as yet unpublished)

A series of events on and off the holodeck during the course of Jean-Luc Picard's birthday leads to the admission of their feelings for one another on the parts of both Picard and Crusher, and results in a long awaited 'birthday gift', and the beginnings of an intimate physical relationship between the two.

Reviewed by : Terry - The final paragraph is an excellent and wonderful conclusion to the story! 6.75
