Convention Story

I attended a convention a long time ago, well o.k. it was about 5 years ago, and it was my very first convention. Guess who was there? Yep, that's right GATES MCFADDEN!!! I thought that you might want to read what I remember of the funny story she told. So here it is, trust me it was better when she told it.

Lady Gates was to attend some awards ceremony with her fellow castmates, so she called up her fashion designer and told him/her (sorry I can't remember the gender) that she wanted a dress without buttons and off the shoulder, maybe a couple of eyehooks to fasten the dress. So the designer says all right. So the morning of the awards she has her dress picked up and realizes that she has HUNDREDS of tiny eyehooks running down the front of her dress. She has no other choice but the wear the dress since it was the day of the awards. So when it gets close to time to leave she gets dress with a lot of difficulty, because every time she would bend down or move a little too much all the eyehooks would come unloose and pop, pop, pop, her dress would open right up. So after she finally gets all the hooks fastened and she hears the limo with Johnathan Frakes and Brent Spiner come up the driveway.

So she makes her way to the door when her son says "Mommy." So of course, she immediately bends over the hug him good-bye and pop,pop,pop, her dress comes undone. She's fuming of course, because she has to attach all the eyehooks again and the two men were making their way to the door. She greets them with "Help me with my dress!" So the two men help her fasten all the eyehooks (beats me what her husband was doing, maybe he was there she didn't say). They all think that this is pretty funny at this point. So then they make their way to the limo and of course, when she sits down. Pop, pop, pop, her dress comes undone! So now the two men groan and start fastening the eyehooks on her dress in the back of the limo. Gates had a wicked grin as she was wondering what the limo driver was thinking about when he saw her in back with the two guys fastening her dress. ;)

It seemed to her that as soon as they had the dress fastened it would soon pop undone again. So her dress was sort of undone so they guys had to majorly improvise. Johnathan wrapped his coat around her and as they exited the limo, Johnathan and Brent covered her as they made their way into the hotel. Brent had to do some interviews, so Johnathan and Gates got a room to hook her dress together before going out to the presentation. Johnathan looked at her and said that this was going to require a couple of drinks as he and she were laughing about the situation. Gates recalled how red faced Johnathan was and he looked at her with dead seriousness, "Don't you ever wear that dress again!" Gates laughingly recalled thinking about what the people in the hotel thought seeing her and Johnathan leaving the room sweating, slightly tipsy and red faced. ;)
