DEAR CAPTAIN by Terry S. Bowers (accepted by Naked Now but as yet unpublished)
During her year at Starfleet Medical, Picard and Crusher keep in touch by letters. Of course, Wesley's progress is paramount, but other matters - major events - and their friendship for one another are also featured.
Reviewed by : Janis - Nicely done. I could really identify with her letters; almost hear her saying certain things to him. His letters to her, certainly at the start are also believable, but I did think that later on he was sometimes saying too much about his feelings for her. 7
DEAR FRIENDS by Boncpc (internet : homepage)
Beverly and Jean-Luc go to Paris. Several of his friends are meeting them there, and they delight in playing practical jokes.
Reviewed by : Janis - Nothing special, but an amusing tale. 6.50
DECADE by Sandra G. (internet)
After ten years away setting up a medical base on a distant colony, Beverly returns to earth for the launch of the Enterprise F. Jean-Luc, she's just discovered, has been married for five years. There had been no contact between them for many, many years. Now, both dread having to face the other.
Reviewed by : Janis - Wonderful! Some of this story unfolds through Beverly's personal logs. Touching, brilliantly written--- and wait for it - despite being an ardent P/Cer, I liked Jean-Luc's wife; what a woman! 8.50
A DIFFERENT PATH by Sandra G. (internet)
Beverly, already Jack's fiancée, meets Jean-Luc. Jack Crusher's death. Beverly joining the _Enterprise_crew. Kes-Prytt. The destruction of the _NCC-1701-D_. Five alternate history sections detailing the relationship of Crusher and Picard.
Reviewed by : Janis - All five parts are wonderful. A refreshing twist on the tale of their complex relationship, with lots of truly touching scenes. I loved it so much that I was sorry when I had finished it. 9.50
THE DIG by Boncpc (internet : homepage)
During shore leave, Picard and Crusher go first to a dig site, then onto a hotel. Both experience jealousy--- and other emotions.
Reviewed by : Janis - There's a lot going on in this well written tale, and great fun it is, too. Adults only! 8
THE
DIZZY HEIGHTS by Janis Sherringham (internet
: homepage)
Jean-Luc Picard resolves to help Beverly Crusher get over her fear of heights. His solution allows him the chance for some physical contact, which in turn leads to a promise of things to come.
Reviewed by : Terry - This story details another step in the process of finally getting our favorite captain and doctor together. It takes this next step rather slowly and is done with grace and believability. And there's a delightful last line! 7
DOCTOR'S HOLIDAY by Sheena Ainsbury (zine: Naked Now 3)
Unaware that Beverly is already staying there, Picard turns up at a cottage on Pacifica.
Reviewed by : Janis - A lovely, well written, romantic tale. 8
DOUBLE ACTION by Ulrike Schaefer (zine: Idylls14)
Beverly and Jean-Luc have dinner. The opportunity for her to kiss him arises, but she leaves. In another, alt-universe, same thing happened, but this Bev kissed him and now they are lovers. Thanks to a nebula, Bev arrives on Beverly's ship. When the two women run into each other, Bev tells her other self about taking the plunge and encourages Beverly to do likewise.
Reviewed by : Janis - Well written, amusing, and a clever idea. I enjoyed this one a lot. 7.50
DUTIES by Terry S. Bowers (Zine: accepted by Involution but as yet unpublished)
Having just begun a relationship at last, Picard tries to put duty before his personal feelings upon learning of Beverly's death during an away mission. Then the possibility that she is alive arises, albeit injured and held captive - but even if that is so, they still have to find her.
Reviewed by : Janis - The old adage "Don't judge a book by it's cover" certainly applies here. What happened to Beverly and why kept me guessing, while on another level, Picard's grief is well written and definitely in character. 7

THE EAR STORY by B. A. Lopez (internet)
Beverly buys Jean-Luc dinner on a quaint planet after persuading him to allow shore leave for a night. He gets more distant as the evening progresses, wondering what she's up to. Indeed, Beverly does have a plan, but maybe now it won't be allowed to succeed.
Reviewed by : Janis - Strange title, eh! That's because the original idea was turned on its ear. Nicely written, but personally I would have liked a more in-depth look at things 7
EVIDENCE by Terry S. Bowers (currently unavailable)
Beverly is blackmailed into getting a highly addictive substance for an ambassador who Jean-Luc knew many years ago. Once a friend, she has a score to settle with him now -- and has photographic evidence which could seriously tarnish the captain's reputation and that of Jack Crusher. Unable to act, Beverly complies while trying to figure a way out of the mess, but her constant releases of the substance are soon noticed and the captain wants answers.
Reviewed by : Janis - An interesting idea -- Beverly trying to help her captain and getting deeper and deeper in trouble. Well written with one really amusing line said by Beverly in regard to the ambassador that had me smiling for ages. 7.50

THE FAVOR by Allison Martens (internet)
Picard persuades Crusher to accompany him to a dull function. The doctor uses the occasion to try and drive him wild with desire.
Reviewed by : Janis - This made me laugh out loud. I should add that it does have some serious content, too. Highly enjoyable. 8
A FORCE OF NATURE by M. A. Boyd (Internet)
Visiting the planet Kalan II, Picard and Crusher find nothing to be as expected. They have to take care for a small group of children and have to fight a somewhat hostile, but legendary lifeform. They both have to risk their lives to make it back. But not everything is turning out well.
Reviewed by: Lee - A great story, complex, caring, funny, exciting, and realistic. I enjoyed reading it, especially because not everything is turning out well. There are things in life we can’t change, but have nevertheless to live with them. 8.75
FOREVER'S AS FAR AS I'LL GO by Melissa Zander (internet)
Jean-Luc and Beverly attend a country and western evening on the holodeck. As they dance, they listen intently to the words of the love songs.

Reviewed by : Janis - The entire story, especially the seduction scene, is very well written, while the end has a little twist that was great fun. 7
